Radiant floor heating retrofit
The picture shows radiant floor heating system installed underneath a 100 year old historic floor. Screws added between floor joist and wood plank sub-floor to prevent creaking of old nailed-in flooring.
Design for tight spaces
The picture shows a condensing modulating boiler with four pumps. The plumbing was designed to fit in a 24 inch space next to boiler.
The picture shows a Fujitsu mini-split concealed ducted air handler underneath the staircase. Gypsum board for fire protection added to bottom of wood risers and treads. The back of the air handler just clears the riser. The front of the air handler is inside the stud wall. The mounting flange for the ducting was trimmed and supply grill is mounted directly to air handler. The studs on the side had to be cut to install refrigerant and condensate drain lines. An 8" metal C channel was used to reinforce the cut studs. Headroom for door opining was maintained. The return grill inside the spaces also doubles as a service access panel. A very tight fit on all sides.
Putting Architects and Designers to work
Sometimes clients want the mechanical room to have tiles. Architects and Designers must choose tiles and grout colors.
